Before joining the Naumann Law Firm, Jacob Katz built a strong foundation in litigation through hands-on experience at both the state and federal levels. He externed for the Honorable Anthony J. Battaglia of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. He further honed his legal writing and courtroom skills over four semesters of internships with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, where he assisted in a wide range of criminal prosecutions.

After earning his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2022, Mr. Katz began his legal career at The Law Offices of Kerry L. Armstrong. Within his first year, he first-chaired multiple misdemeanor and felony trials and successfully argued several substantive motions. His exceptional trial performance and legal acumen earned him a promotion to senior associate after only a year.

Mr. Katz has been recognized as one of the National Trial Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40, received the AVVO Client’s Choice Award in 2024 and 2025, and was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2025. He has also contributed to thought leadership in trial practice, with two articles published in the Jury Trial Committee Improvement Newsletter: “Dealing with Daubert: Finding the Right Balance” and “Judicial Problems: Answering Jurors’ Questions.”

Mr. Katz earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2016. During law school, he was a member of the mock trial team, a merit scholarship recipient, and runner-up in USD’s Intramural Mock Trial Competition.
